Outcasts and Outsiders

Humans by nature are territorial and suspicious of anyone who is in some way different. And it is painful to be the one on the outside. Immigrants or children of  immigrants, those who have been abused or abandoned, or who do not have the skin color, language, or religion of the majority, or who have a malformed body or are ill or of a different mindset, can all feel like outcasts–with shared feelings of abandonment or alienation. In some degree, we all feel as if we have lost our home – the place where we would be at ease and welcomed – and we long for it.

Are you an outcast or outsider? If so, how do you cope with life on the edge?

Posts in this section will explore the unique position of those who live as outsiders in their society..
